WHY ROCK ART EXISTs

Theories about reasons for the existence of 

rock art, or petroicons, are many and varied. 

Explanations about why petroglyphs, 

petroglyphs and  geoglyphs exist abound. 

Some are quite controversial, while others seem 

obvious and well confirmed  The links below 

explore those reasons.  Determining the validity of 

those reasons is left to the discretion of 

 modern explorers.
